Tom De Sena

Tom established Skyway in 1978. From 1978 - 1986 Skyway toured extensively throughout the east coast in support of regional and national acts. In 1986, the band culminated while headlining the Springfield Civic Center for Spring Fest for area colleges. "In all those years, we only made three personnel changes which is very rare."

Tom studied with Bob Gatzen and Gene Bozzi both of Hartt School of Music, also Bob Moses of the Gary Burton Quartet and Kenwood Denard from Drummers Collective in New York who also performs with Maceo Parker, Manhattan Transfer and Harry Belafonte.

"I never knew I would resurrect Skyway after so many years playing the New York - Boston circuit with numerous projects. It just happened naturally, which I believe is the correct way. I always said any band’s success is the players, and I’ve surrounded myself with the best. To work with musicians who are your best friends and have a ball doing it - to me that’s what Skyway was all about then and what it is all about today."
